Biography
Now 20, I've amassed a wide spectrum of experience, particularly within the corporate world. To this date, clients I've worked with include Rolls-Royce, LG, wagamama, Honda, Old El Paso and Bleach London. Recently, I've become involved both in photography and in short film, with my recent debut short, Life's Last Scene, which I both wrote and directed. I'm currently undertaking a 3 year BA course in Broadcasting at the University of Leeds but I continue to build and maintain my portfolio on a part-time basis during term-time and on a full-time basis during the holidays.
In 2007, I began work as a post-production runner at Brainstorm Post (link) for my gap year, a years experience that gave me a knowledge of the edit. Whilst here my specialism quickly became digital projects often working on website projects such as oldelpaso.co.uk, touch-screen projects such as the wagamama touch-screen menu and on new technologies, such as iphone application development for Honda.
In September 2008 I left Brainstorm to begin a three year course at the University of Leeds in Broadcasting. I saw university as a chance to let me build my skills and to truly grasp what I was interested in. Quickly this became apparent and in January 2009, I was asked by Brainstorm to work as a single camera operator covering the build of an event in Valencia, the Honda Insight car launch.
In June 2009, I sought to expand my experience in the direction of film and television, completing a work placement at Kudos Film & TV (link). Soon after, I purchased a Canon 5D Mark iI and became in video projects utilising the specialisms of the camera such as the cinematic look it can provide, the small size and the ability to function also as a stills camera.
In late july 2009, I worked on my first film set as a 3rd AD and at times also a stills photographer. The film (The Confession, NFTS graduation piece, DIR: Tanel Toom, DOP: Davide Cinzi) gave me my first glimpse into the film world and also my first experience working on a RED ONE project. I then worked on a number of projects using the Canon 5D Mark II, covering a wedding as the principal photographer and covering a sculpture installation at the newly branded LG Arena, working both as a photographer and as a cameraman.
In October, I added to my video SLR arsenal with a Canon 7D, covering the UK BFF Bodybuilding championships as part of a camera team and then in November, directed my first short film, Life's Last Scene, which is currently in the edit. Since then, in December, I worked on a corporate film for Rolls-Royce (DIR: Jez Murrell, DOP: Steve Weiser) as the 2nd unit cameraman and digital imaging specialist, utilising my Canon 7D for interior mounted shots. Now in 2010, I plan on continuing this video SLR specialism and continuing to pursue short film interests, taking Life's Last Scene to festivals later on this year.
